New Sunderland signing Dominique Bruinenberg is looking forward to getting started in the FA Women’s Super League as the Lady Black Cats begin their Spring Series campaign with an away trip to Birmingham on Sunday 23rd April.

“I am glad to finally be getting started in the league,” said Bruinenberg who signed for the club in February. “Pre-season has gone well, I feel really fit and ready to go.

“I am definitely looking forward to playing some games but especially the home matches. The girls have told me that Hetton feels like their home and I am looking forward to having that feeling and getting to know the fans.”

Before that, Sunderland travel to FA Cup finalists Birmingham who have had a great start to their season beating Arsenal and Chelsea to secure a place at Wembley.

“I think Birmingham will be a tough game,” said Bruinenberg. “I have heard that they are a good team and watched some footage but other than that I don’t know a lot about them.

“Sometimes the team talk about players from other clubs and I won't know who they mean but I kind of like it that way. It means that I can just concentrate on me and play my game and I will see what they are like during the match.”

Sunderland take on Birmingham City on Sunday 23 April 2017 2pm at Solihull Moors FC with tickets available here

The Lady Black Cats’ first home game of the season will be one week later as they take on Arsenal Ladies at the Hetton Centre on Sunday 30th April, kick off 2pm. Tickets for that match are available here
