Three second half goals secure trophy for St.Clere's F.C.

A game of very few opportunities saw St.Clere’s lift the Division One League Cup trophy.

Whilst Great Leigh’s probably played the better football on the night St.Clere’s were more ruthless when it came to taking their chances, with three well taken second half goals.

James Haydon had the first real effort on goal inside 13 minutes but his effort was well saved by Kendle.

A cross from the left from Great Leigh’s Ward deceived the St.Clere’s keeper and the ball cannoned off the post to safety.

A poor half came to a close with the game goalless

St.Clere’s took the lead at the mid point of the second half when John Archer shot home. They extended their lead 5 minutes later when James Hayden scored.

With 15 minutes left St.Clere’s put the game beyond Great Leigh’s. A well worked move down the left saw Ryan Sheppard head home to make it 3-0 on the night
