Today someone maliciously tried to get a SECWFL match cancelled by contacting both teams informing them that they were from their opposition and that they were unable to field a side. This may have worked but luckily the home team secretary rang me to ask questions on the procedures for payment to the referee and I was able to avert the cancellation.

In future if any club receives a phone call cancelling a fixture they must ensure that the person they are talking to is a named official from their opposition or a league officer. If you have any doubts please ring them back on a recognised number from the handbook or raise your doubts with me direct. Hopefully this is a one off .
