Two City League clubs were in OFA Junior Shield First round action at the weekend with mixed results.
Two City League clubs were in OFA Junior Shield First round action at the weekend with mixed results. SUMMERTOWN AFC hosted WROXTON SPORTS FC and continued their fine form to come away 5-2 winners, Charles Appiah scored a hat-trick with Ola Abiola and Matthew Naisbit wrapping it up for Stars. ZUBRY (SAT) FC though lost 2-0 away to former City League outfit WESTMINSTER FC, in a closely contested fixture that could have gone either way, it was Westminster who took their chances and progressed into the next round.
In the League ST. EBBES (HEADINGTON) FC won 4-2 at MASONS ARMS.
Masons Arms pressed early but in a10 minute spell before half time St Ebbes went 3-0 up through a penalty and an attack down the right and then the left, their goal scorers were Josh Horn, Ben Dyer and Stuart Rainey. In the second half Masons pulled 2 goals back, through Tino Seremwe and Lewis Evans. But Stuart Rainey scored his second for the visitors late on to make the final score 4-2 to St Ebbes.
BROOKES UNIVERSITY FC played host to N.O.C.C FC with the game fairly even in the 1st half, the game got more interesting in the 2nd when Brookes Uni won a penalty. However the NOCC keeper made a fine double save when he stopped both the penalty and the follow up, shortly after though Brookes Uni managed to get the goal to go 1-0 up. With about 20 minutes to go though N.O.C.C turned the game on its head and scored 2 goals within 5 minutes to go 2-1 up, Brookes had a couple of chances late on to equalise hitting the crossbar and missing a one on one but to no avail with the game ending 2-1 to N.O.C.C
East Oxford 2 Wheatley Youth 3
Wheatley youth took a 3-0 lead within the first half thanks to goals from Henry Bone, Jacob Joseph & a own goal from Andrew Gibney. East Oxford fought back in the second half after a great penalty save from Rob turner spurred life back in to east but it just wasn't enough. The goal scorers for East Oxford were Abdi Omar & Patryk Wartalski.

The fixtures for the forthcoming season have now been released, some fixtures may be changed due to Cup matches including the "John Fathers" Junior Shield.

St. Ebbes (Headington) FC capped a fantastic season by lifting the Couling Cup at Abingdon Town FC, in their first season in the League.
