FC Salle see off ACOL Academy in a rollercoaster of a game
Callum Hunter Reporting...
ACOL Academy dominated first 15 minutes and were looking extremely dangerous from set pieces.
The first huge chance came in the 19th minute, but ACOL are denied by a brilliant double save.
The first goal came in the 21st minute, following a scramble after another dangerous corner which FC Salle failed to clear, the goal was definitely deserved giving the start to the game.
The visitors nearly doubled their lead in the 24th minute following a long ball and a 2 on 2 break but were denied well by the keeper.
The away side once again nearly doubled their lead in the 26th minute, hitting the post from an audacious angle in the 26th minute.
ACOL where then left to rue their several missed chances as Salle equalised in the 27th minute, the ACOL keeper completely misjudged a long ball, and this was played across the box before being finished emphatically. Completely against the run of play.
A second Goal for the visitors restored their deserved lead in the 28th minute, a long ball away was controlled beautifully before a screamer was strook into the top left corner. 2-1, deserved lead.
Salle Equalised in the last action in the first half. A long throw in wasn’t cleared and was finished well following a scramble into the bottom corner. ACOL appealed strongly for offside during the scramble.
Half time: 2-2. ACOL dictated play and dominated the ball for the most part of the first half and will be ruing, not only missed chances but also the fact that both goals for Salle came from seemingly nothing. Frustration was clear from them at the end of the first half as two of their players were booked for dissent.
There was a huge chance for Salle to start the second half, but the one on one was looped over the bar.
The hosts started the second half much better as they had a shot on target from the edge of the box, but the ACOL keeper saved it comfortably.
They followed this up with another chance, but their header on the edge of the box grazed the post.
ACOL Responded with a huge chance, but their man free on the edge of the box lifted the bouncing ball agonisingly wide.
ACOL hit the post in the dying moments of the game with a great effort, agonising.
Salle won it with a beautiful cut inside and amazing finish into the top right corner from the edge of the box. Wow. Amazing scenes in the dying moments.
The hosts sealed it with a clean breakthrough as ACOL pushed everyone up, it was calmly taken round the keeper and slotted into an empty net. 4-2
Full time: ACOL will feel hard done by as they should’ve had a huge lead after their first half dominant display, however, in the second half there was a significant improvement by Salle and this was rewarded with a great comeback victory.
