The Passey/Triggs Trophy - Group Stage 2nd Set
The second set of fixtures for the Passey/Triggs Trophy took place but weather conditions caused a few postponements due to sodden pitches.
Group A
In Group A, there were goals galore as Oldershaw FC fired home five goals through Joe Williams, Liam Stephens, Thomas Warburton, Curtis Ledsom-Robinson and Jay Ryder but were outdone by PLCCFC who netted six in reply to win 6-5. On target for the PLCC FC were Dan Hardman with a hat-trick, Charlie Clewlow, Lee Davey and Jordan Chwalko in a great game.
New Brighton Town shared six goals with FC Greasby in a 3-3 encounter as Tom Evans netted twice and Greg Williams added a single, but hitting the replies were Luke Steel, Sam Macadam and Corey Casey.
Group B
Only one fixture in Group B saw high flying Vineyard overcome second division AFC Bromborough to continue their unbeaten start to the season following their 12-2 verdict, as Callum Morrison-4, Declan Pearce-2, Jamie Payne-2, Ash Robinson-2, Jay Rimmer and Ethan Simon all found the net. Consolations came from Scott Froggart and Mike Cheeseman.
Group C
Group C action resulted in 20 goals being scored as victories for Finnigan FC and Barnston FC saw them remain unbeaten so far.
Finnigan FC bagged double figures when overwhelming Park Royal thanks to Dale Crawford netting five goals, Adam McCreevy claiming a treble and Daren Pritchard, Adam Walker, Jack Fletcher and Ben Speed all adding singles in this 12-0 victory.
Second division leaders Barnston FC defeated a battling Bromborough Athletic 7-1 courtesy of efforts from Ben Ryan-3, Jack Nelson-2 and a goal apiece from Sean Boyd and Connor James with Dec Barham bagging the lone reply.
Group D
One game was postponed in Group D due to the referee saying the pitch was rain-soaked and unplayable, but the derby game between Shore Villa and AFC Shore Villa produced an excellent victory for AFC as they eased home 3-1 despite being under plenty of pressure. An own goal plus singles from Harry Brassey and Josh Griffiths earned them the points to go level top with their opponents.
