Report Sunday 18th August 2024
Report compiled by Tom Potter League Secretary
The opening fixtures of a new season saw plenty of goals but also saw one player Jake Riding suffer a severe injury after only 17 minutes when playing for Oldershaw FC versus Shore Villa. Upon phoning for an ambulance team members were told that they would have to wait approximately 3 hours, so the referee had no option but to abandon the fixture, which both teams fully supported. The league wishes Jake a full and speedy recovery.
MES Ltd First Division
Fixtures that did take place in the MES Ltd First Division saw 17 goals scored but only one team won as PLCCFC won a close encounter 3-2 versus Trident thanks to a Carl Murphey double and one from Owen Ainscough, with the replies coming from Sam Bonner and Tom Rowlands.
Lottie Dod opened their account with a 3-3 draw against North West Harriers, whose scorers were Kevin Day with a brace and a single from Sean Daly. On target for Dod were Dan Lewis, Mike Jenkinson and Danny Andrew.
Also sharing the spoils were Finnigan FC who came from 3-1 down versus Wallasey Wanderers to gain a point in their 3-3 draw, due to efforts from Dale Crawford and Kevin Coles with a brace. On target for Wanderers were Jack Neilson with a double and Ollie Lowe bagged a single.
Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division.
Action from the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division saw new boys Liscard Brazil begin their campaign with a 5-1 success over New Brighton Town, whose lone scorer was Ollie Parr but going nap for Liscard were Jake Williams, Jake Adams, Jordan Hutchings, Josh Maldon and Jacob Cotgrave in a good team effort.
Netting four times through Jamie Mitchell-2, Will Igoe and Adam Coe, Barnston FC won 4-0 against FC Greasby to open their account.
A Dan Ludbrook goal for AFC Shore Villa was enough for a share of the points in their game versus AFC Bromborough who replied through Kieran Hughes in this 1-1 draw.
Park Royal began with a 2-1 victory over Cheshire Vikings as Matty Scott and Grant Reay netted a goal apiece in an even affair.
