Sean wins match ball but no game in the bag

North Warnborough Reserves travelled all the way down to Fawley in the Hampshire Sunday Junior B Cup on Sunday. Sean Delfosse, scored all three goals in a 3-3 result, but he couldn't turn his personal triumph into club victory after eight rounds of penalty kicks, with Fawley RBL Reserves winning the tie 5-4 on penalties. This result was North Warnborough Reserves' first defeat of the season, and are left with just the league to concentrate on.

The first half of an all-Basingstoke tie of the Andover Presidents Cup, between Republic of Chineham and Soldiers Return, was closely contested, with the visitors creating chances but not taking any of them. Ten minutes into the half Soldiers were to rue those misses, as Republic went ahead 1-0 with a penalty and, soon afterwards, extended their lead. Soldiers lost their resolve at this point and the floodgates opened, the final result 7-0 to Republic of Chineham. The scorers were Wayne Finn, Adam DiMambro with two, Mitchell Stokes, and Ben Nicholls with a hat-trick.

Basingstoke Royals were rarely troubled defensively in their home tie by visitors Whitenap, particularly in the scoreless opening half, where the hosts created chances that were not taken, notably by Steven Price with a couple of headers, James McIntosh and Stephen Horton. It wasn't until 70 minutes had elapsed before Horton scored his first goal of the season 1-0, which turned out to be the winner. This takes Royals' form to four wins in a row.

Few chances were made in the first half at Andover Sports, none of which Dayers Fine Foods were able to take, leaving the scoreline 0-0 at half-time. After the break, the sides netted freely, swapping alternate goals until the game finished 5-4 to the hosts. Lee Neal and Jordan Wainwright each scored braces for Dayers.

Wheatsheaf surrendered their place in the draw, going down 6-0 at Arms Athletic.

In Division 1, Matthew Osborne finished off a great team goal to put FC Basing ahead, before Karl Hanks put them 2-0 up. Oakley's Samie Aldoori managed to pull one back, but a controversial penalty, buried by Tom Skinner, took the score to 3-1 and secured the home points.

Dan Greenwood netted Chineham's only consolation goal in Division 2 leaders' Affini Technology's 1-4 victory. Darren Turner, David Weatherhead, and Nick Jupp with a brace, took unstoppable Affini Technology to three wins on the trot out of nine unbeaten games this season.

Hampshire Irons edged a goal up at Team, 0-1 after a free kick from Michael Pemberton in his own half located Jack Miller to head in. That lead was increased to 0-2 after Miller provide a long ball to Alex Brundle, who rounded the keeper to score. A slip from Tom Moore in goal, though, allowed Team to reduce the deficit to 1-2 by the break. Pemberton assisted Stephen Bown to score Irons' third, before Terry Lock was set up by Pemberton for the fourth. Team pulled a couple of goals back, before Michael Wood's clipped header made it 3-5. Finally, Lock set up Rob Mead to win this high-scoring game 4-6.

In a feisty and competitive game, North Warnborough levelled an early setback to go in 1-1 at half-time. However, conceding a penalty to UWS 1-2, and followed up by a breakaway goal for 1-3, effectively handed the points to the visitors, despite an 89th minute penalty converted by Borough reducing the margin to one goal. UWS have now gone five games without a defeat.

Revolution remain unbeaten in their last seven home games after a 2-2 draw with Eastrop Eagles.

Basingstoke Saints Reserves' first Division 3 match of the season was a competitive one, played away from home against second-place Camrose Social, with some good football played in quite foggy conditions. To counter Ben Hobday and Aaron Burt's goals from set pieces, Liam James pulled the score back to 2-1 at half-time, with a super finish. Saints conceded a penalty, converted by Byron Letch, before Liam James scored his second from a free kick, to finish with a creditable 3-2 defeat in Basingstoke Saints Reserves' first league match.

Taylor Watts racked up a double hat-trick, with six goals in FC Benidorm of Stoke's 7-1 defeat of visitors Chineham Reserves. Tom Langley netted Stoke's seventh and Tyler Andrews fired in Chineham's consolation strike.
