Title contenders close the gap!

Reserves League One

This weekend gave the chasing pack a chance to catch up with league leaders, Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads. Greenalls PSO moved within three points of Nomads following their 3-1 victory over another side that has performed rather well recently, Garswood United. Greenalls’ goals came via Neil Sutch and Ben McWilliams (X2).

Rylands picked up their first win of the campaign at the expense of Eagle Sports. The visitors took three points after an emphatic 1-5 victory over the Warrington natives coming courtesy of a hat-trick and MOTM performance from Michael Sullivan and goals from Calum Anderson and substitute Sean Preston.

Styal and Billinge also recorded victories this weekend, 1-4 and 3-1 respectively, with Poynton and Denton being on the receiving end. These results leave us with a very close midtable, with three points separating third and eighth in the table.

Reserves League Two

League leaders Mersey Valley had their lead at the top severely diminished this week as the fell victim to a 3-0 defeat to mid-table side, Moore United. This result, coupled with the other results in the league this week mean that the gap at the top has dropped to just three points.

Second-placed FC St Helens took all three points from their home tie against Malpas which saw them win by six goals to one. Those six goals came through Jack Ball, Morgan Deardon, Jay Morley (X2), George Mylona and substitute Will Tracey.

AFC Macclesfield also closed the gap at the top with a 5-2 victory over Pilkington. This result means that there are three possible teams who could be top of the table come next Sunday. It should be an entertaining week of footballing action.
