Marquis Journey Ends. Plenty of action to write about once again, despite rain-sodden pitches, writes Darren “Statto” Jones.

Sunday Senior Cup Semi Final:
Marquis United’s fantastic run came to an end with a resounding four-goal defeat at Belstone (Sunday), who go onto the final against Comets Sports Club.

KLM Challenge Cup Round 2:
Andrew Iweduino hit a hat-trick as Nirankari Stevenage strolled to victory over Stevenage Colts Reserves to set up a last eight meeting with Broadhall or Highview. There were braces for Martin Young and Mark Duckett, aswell as David Iweduino and James Taylor strikes. Ryan Bareham grabbed a consolation.

KLM Challenge Cup Quarter-Final:
Dun Cow eased into a semi-final meeting with Broadhall Reserves after seeing off TC United with half-a-dozen. Shaun Marshall (two), Jason Drackford (two), Adam Paine and Adam Furness were on the mark.

Division 1:
Martin Rees bagged a hat-trick for Marquis of Lorne as they earned three points to move up to mid-table. Jason Lovelock was also on target as basement side SCS replied through Aaron Reed and Dean Chadderton.

Division 2:
With the leaders in cup action, Hermit of Redcoats roared back to the top of the pile thanks largely to a Josh Dance hat-trick. Russell Ayles (two), Lee Metselaar (two), Anthony Lanni and an own goal compounded Hartham Press’ misery who hit only one goal of the ten scored.

A1 Trophies sit in the middle of the table in a game which started cagey, with both sides struggled to create chances. The breakthrough came on the half-hour mark when a clearance arrived at Rob Duckworth’s feet and he looped a swerving shot over the ‘keeper. FC Squirrel hit the post and their ‘keeper saved well from a Craig Longman header. Tallem Dennis was controversially denied a second by a linesman’s flag before Reece Munford did make the game safe, bursting into the box to slot home. There was one sour note for A1 as Martin Metcalf was sent-off after reacting to an awful challenge that went un-punished.

A Steve Harris treble saw Putterills past Timebridge AFC. Dave Banks also netted.

Division 3:
Broadhall 'A' bounced back to stretch their lead at the top with a convincing win. The first-half was closely contested and surprisingly produced no goals. The second-half had barely started when Joe Lee set off on a superb surging run before setting up Paul Hancock to score the opener. ABC Taxis immediately struck back through Steve O'Brien before some good work but a lovely cross from Phil Stevens saw Andy Lee climb and score with a magnificent header to restore the lead. The third was another good header by Stevens, this time from Rob Stevenson's corner. They really enjoyed themselves in the final few minutes. Firstly, the ball broke to Terry Lee, who hit home a good drive. A cross from Jon Myers was then volleyed in by Hancock before the same combination produced the finale and Hancock’s hat-trick.

Times Club’s mini-revival ended abruptly despite a Paul Dowse strike. Bedwell Rangers were big winners thanks to Luke Smith (hat-trick) and a brace apiece from Jamie Morriss and Ross Murphy.

A perfect hat-trick by Lewis Sealy inside the first 20 minutes all but sealed victory for Emperors Head. After a left-foot and a right-foot strike had made up for missing a penalty, the poacher headed home for the landmark. Damian Hadlow ran onto a through-ball to slot home. Piers Le Grand also hit a first-half treble for the second time in two appearances for the club as they had seven before they turned around. Le Grand hit another after the break and Lewis Essam’s calm finish from 20 yards compounded Timebridge AFC Reserves’ misery. Kristian Donoghue, Josh Stock and Cory Cooper replied.

Rileys Athletic are still fourth thanks to Thomas Rydeheard, Myles Marshall and Callum Russell. Chequers replied through Gary Gibson.

Division 4:
A Ben Snowden goal in each half was enough to take the points for Crooked Billet Boro against Icon Onderers. The first was a neat finish through a crowded penalty box, the second was a near post header from a corner as they stretched their lead at the top.

Granby took the lead when Gary Haze pounced on a loose ball in the box. Early in the second-half, Ali Collins headed home from a long Iaian Turkentine throw-in which kept Breachwood Lions them second on goal difference. It could’ve been better for them and Collins, but his penalty was saved. He also supplied a cross to the back post for Ollie Mason's header to go agonisingly wide, but Granby also had a couple of chances themselves, but it ended all square.

Roebuck Gate closed the gap as Dave Morton (two) and Lewis Collins strikes saw off Walkern Construction, for whom Lee Kitching replied.

Proverbial stayed fourth as Jason Smith netted against Stevenage Old Town. Dan Grosch replied.

Frank Neville Memorial Cup:
Holders MBDA wiped out the two-goal deficit thanks to Ross Walker and Kyle Watson. However, on a boggy pitch, Mallard Old Boys turned the screw to lead at half-time to pretty much give them the points. There were braces for Si Jervis, Jake Prince and Dan Welch in total as they hit half-a-dozen on the day by the end of the game. In reply, Watson netted his second and Ashley Kersey also struck in the ten-goal thriller.

Carl Smith hit four as Stevenage Leisure Limited hammered Broadhall Reserves, regardless of their goal start. Alex Bysouth hit a brace, whilst the reply came from Steve Fahey and an own goal.

A Dave Holmes hat-trick proved that Stevenage Colts’ one-goal advantage wasn’t enough as Almond Tree United bagged the three points.
