Ricky Lawrance, made the right headlines this week for Almond Tree United...

Nirankari sides are looking like the teams to beat...

Nirankari Stevenage stormed to the top of the table as Andrew Iweduino (two), James Taylor, Liam Errington, Leon Gutzmore and Tony Ward were on target against Broadhall. Grant Sullivan replied.

Dun Cow were made to the share the points despite goals from Ian Thorne, James Dillnutt and Shaun Marshall. Bottles’ first point came thankful of Russell Bull’s penalty, Lee Wilson and Michael Davis.

After last week's hammering, Almond Tree United battled hard to secure their first points of the season despite Barry Hazelton giving Marquis United the lead from a corner. They bounced back when Ricky Lawrance capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home. The talented player’s winning goal came by way of a majestic solo effort, beating four players before placing the ball under the ‘keeper.

Highview were quick out of the traps and Alex Cox headed home from a free-kick. Jack Philbin hit a brace and they were well on top. MBDA should’ve reduced the arrears before the break, but the finishing wasn’t up to scratch and stand-in goalkeeper Callum Newbury was doing a sterling job at keeping them out, including a fantastic tip round the post from Ross Walker’s header. At the other end, Dave Morbin’s cracking strike smacked the crossbar before Eaton Johnson did pull back a consolation, deflecting home Paul Kersey’s shot.

Division 1:
Nirankari Stevenage Reserves did the double over Stevenage Colts, but found it much harder going. Andy Kelly, Joel Mason, Kaan Fehmi and Steve Teale were the scorers.

Division 2:
Timebridge AFC were big winners despite Hartham Press taking the lead through a James Khakpour-Smith lob. Scorers were Ricky Mait (two), Dave Pateman (two), Cory Cooper and Josh Stock. Hartham went down to ten men due to injury at 3-1.

Division 3:
Chequers dominated possession but didn’t net ‘til shortly after half-time through Carl Thompson. ABC Taxis equalised promptly through an own goal before substitute Lee Wilson netted and John Mikiel struck into the top corner to seal victory.

Rileys Athletic were comfortable winners over Stevenage Colts Reserves. Lewis Osborne (two), Kieran Devine (two), Danny Russell and Thomas Rydeheard did the damage.

Lee Grimsey grabbed an extremely rare goal, lobbing home for Emperors Head. Lewis Sealy (two) and Joe Whittaker were also on target, Timebridge AFC Reserves replied through Ben Gumble.

Louis Gilbert and Gary Henniker gave Odyssey the points against Times Club, whose goal came from Karl Akers.

Division 4:
Breachwood Lions started the game well and Ollie Mason opened the scoring before Danny Jefferies unleashed a shot into the net from outside the box to double the lead. Ollie Potton surprised the Icon Onederers ‘keeper with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area before a fourth before half-time from Ricky Hill. Mason completed his brace before Jefferies did likewise. Ali Collins completed the scoring with a low free-kick off the left post ten minutes from time. They go top.

Christian Goodyear and James Marshall netted for Crooked Billet Boro, but Sam Bickerstaff’s brace earned Granby a point.

A goal by Oliver Roberts in the first minute set Walkern Construction on their way but an equaliser from Dan Quirk squared things up for Lorne Rangers. However, goals from Lee Kitching and Marc Stobart gave Walkern at two-goal cushion at the break. A Chris Bunker brace put the game out of sight before a Ross Murphy brace came by way of consolation.

Theo Griffith put Proverbial in front before half-time, but Stevenage Old Town turned it around with a Gary Lineham brace. However, a late own goal after Jay Smith beat four players and put the ball in the danger area gave each team a point.

Frank Neville Memorial Cup:
After three failed attempts last season, Broadhall A finally beat overcame their opponents, now two divisions ahead of them. Coopers had begun with just nine men, but took the lead with a back header from Adam Stevens. However, after the break, and their opponents now with a man extra, Glenn Heritage's speculative long range effort somehow squirmed through the keeper's legs for the equaliser on the day. Then, with just under 20 minutes to play they struck twice in a minute; the first a Michael Emmings penalty before the second was superbly tucked away by Gary Hillard from Phil Stevens' pass. The arrears were reduced by Ben Smith.
