Adam Furness, big goal...

Timebridge Into Last Eight... Nirankari Timebridge won an all-Stevenage clash to progress to the quarter-finals of the County Cup, writes Darren "Statto" Jones (statto@cssfl.info).

In a close first-half in the Herts Intermediate Cup fifth Round tie, Nirankari Timebridge took time to settle and were punished by their hard working Stevenage rivals. A good passing move resulted in Chequers hitting the post and Gary Gibson scored his 13th of the season from the rebound for a deserved lead. It didn’t look like being Timebridge's day as chances came and went, new signing Lee Allinson missing two golden chances. Five minutes before the break, Allinson found Terry Pateman, who finished with a clever lob. With half-time approaching, Pateman crossed for brother Dave Pateman to smash home. Rich Hall collected a through ball and calmly finished for a third before Chequers left space at the back in pursuit of something and Michael Travis burst through to make it 4-1. They’ll now host Lea Sports PSG from Pirton in the quarter-finals.

Dun Cow overcame a real test in their quest for the Premier Division title as a solitary Adam Furness penalty saw off Arena-Group in a physical game. It was his 21st goal of the season.

Broadhall still sit second, just as they finished last season, after a good run of form. Goalkeeper Kyle Forster played up front and hit a hat-trick. He also assisted a Kologo Richards goal and they were 4-0 up on the hour. MBDA put in a spirited comeback, Ashley Kersey netted twice to take him to 22 for the season before Alan Kenney brought it back to 4-3 with a superb volley, but they couldn’t level it.

Real Stevenage moved to fourth bottom as Rich Fahey (two) and Andy Yates. Neil Henderson scored a consolation for St Nicholas.

Almond Tree United are still fourth after inflicting another defeat on Stevenage Leisure Ltd. They were 3-0 up pretty quickly, Ricky Lawrance opened with the first two, followed by an own goal after pressure from new signing Bradley Vooght. Lawrance completed his hat-trick before half-time but then endured the worst possible scenario as he broke his leg in a tackle. Carl Lingwood smashed home number five, but SLL sneaked a goal in just before the break through Matt Sharp. The second half saw SLL hit two more through Ryan Manning, but strikes from Alex King (two) and Danny Lingwood made the final score 8-3.
