We preview the opening games for this Saturday

Woodchurch First Team start their Ashford & District League tittle defence at home against Wittersham FC this Saturday. Woodchurch have retained a number of their tittle-winning squad and have made some strong summer signings, including youngster Jack Cox who has impressed during pre-season. Wittersham who finished 3rd in Division One last season, will be looking to have a strong start to the season. Wittersham will be pleased that their top goal scorer Joshua Spinks has signed up for another season.

Division One Champions Smeeth & Brabourne will travel to to Pilgrims. Smeeth were ruthless during 2021/22 winning all their competitive game apart from one. Scoring an incredible 127 goals and conceding 29 in all competitions. Paul Milloy’s side will want to ensure they start off with a win to continue last season’s successes. Pilgrims will want to build on from their first season as a squad following their progression from youth football last season.

League newcomers Bocca Juniors will start the season will a trip to face Bromley Green’s First Team. While Lenham Wanderers Reserves will welcome Fox Saturday to the Lenham School. Fox Saturday are a team that have reformed from last season’s South Willesborough Rangers. Tenterden Town Thirds will welcome Bromley Green Reserves to Homewood School. While Gregg Moncrieff’s Woodchurch Reserves travel to Sellindge Seconds. They did in fact play each other last Saturday in a friendly where they draw 2-2.

All games will kick off at 2pm.
