Adam Furness, one in Dun Cow's demolition of Nirankari Stevenage Reserves...

KLM Challenge Cup First Round...

The hotly-anticipated tie was an anti-climax as Dun Cow battered Nirankari Stevenage Reserves, who suffered their first defeat of the season. Ryan Butler (two), Ryan Jenner, Chris Balasz, Ian Thorne and Adam Furness did the damage.

A last-minute dubious penalty to complete a hat-trick for Sam Spencer saw Bottles through. Dean Allen also scored, whilst a deflated Stevenage Fencing’s goals came from Dave Hailey (two) and Craig Gilbert.

Division Two leaders Hermit of Redcoats started strongly and were camped in the A1 Trophies half before the break, but with Josh Dance arriving late, they didn’t have the cutting edge. They went in front after ten minutes when Olly Rice netted from close range after good work by Ray Downes. Having now arrived, Dance duly struck number two. A speculative 30 yard effort from him then slipped through the ‘keepers hands. A1 caused a few more problems after the break, but Dance went on to score four times in total to seal an emphatic win, thanks partly to Mark Staples, whose game in defence was his first start for the club.

Tom Galvin (two), Chris McCarthy and Joe Chilton netted as Stevenage Leisure Limited won by the odd goal in seven against Coopers. Graeme Kear, Ben Smith and Adam Stevens scored in defeat.

Jacob Dawson (two) and Jamie Morris were on the mark as Bedwell Rangers saw off Hartham Press.

ABC Taxis scored a surprise win over Mallard Old Boys. Darren Bennett and Ned Wickham were on the mark. Si Parnell replied, but also hit the post from point-blank range in the last couple of minutes.

MBDA sewed up their tricky-looking tie in the first-half. An Ashley Kersey brace, Kyle Watson, a solo Chris Chalat run and finish and a neat header from Alan Kenney were met with a solitary reply by SCS from Dean Chadderton. However, goals from Jonros Perren and Alfa Waititu suddenly brought them to within two, but Ashley Kersey’s hat-trick goal and a first-ever goal in the CSSFL for the youngest of the three brothers in the side, 16 year-old Aaron Kersey, sealed the win.

Alan Collins scored for Chequers as a tight game not reflected by score line. Broadhall Reserves went through thanks to a Steve Fahey hat-trick and one from Scott Durham.

Last season's finalists TC United had resounding win despite Timebridge AFC taking the lead mid-way through the first-half from Dave Pateman. Terry Lock struck a screamer from distance to put his side level before adding another in the second-half. Jimmy Lock helped himself to a brace and George Bradshaw converted his first goal for the club. An own goal made it six. Chris Benton had a twice taken penalty saved as he failed to open his account for the season.

Danny Jefferies opened the scoring for Breachwood Lions and Dan Dye got the second, tucking away Iaian Turkentine's cross from the right. Ali Collins scored a brace before half-time, the first from an Ollie Mason cross and the second a one-on-one. A well struck long range shot from captain Turkentine made it five at the break. Jefferies found space to look up and pick a long-range shot into the top corner before Collins completed his hat-trick with a low free-kick through the wall. A late Anthony Rowe goal was a consolation for Lorne Rangers.
