Message from Martin Peters (refs appointments officer)

Referees – Due to the flexibility of the league (fixture changes) trying to appoint referees to fixtures can be at times challenging. Therefore moving forward the following process will be adopted

- I will (where ever possible) appoint Referees to fixtures on the 1st Sunday of each month, if teams move the fixture, I will try and find a referee for you but please can all teams notify me (martin.peters@somersetfa.com) at earliest opportunity of the fixture being rearranged.

- All appointed Referee MUST be contacted 72 hours before any match, if a Referee is not contacted, the Referee will be advised to TRAVEL to game and if the game is postponed then the team will be asked the pay the referee the full match fee of £30.

- If a match is cancelled or changed (after making initial contact with the Referee), it’s the clubs responsibility to inform the Referee that the match is no longer taking place. If the Referee is not informed and arrives at the fixture, the club will have to cover the match fee of £30.

Please make every effort to the follow the process above, I am trying to expand the pool of referees and please look after every referee as I am trying to bring some younger guys in to adult football and the veterans league is an ideal place for them to start.
