Welcome to the new season, from the SMCCFL Secretary
To all Players, Managers, Club Officials and Supporters
Welcome to the new SMCCFL season 2024 / 25
We have a full League programme of fixtures across 3 divisions, plus 3 cup competitions. We commence on 31st August with the Col Smith Cup, and the League fixtures will begin on 7th September. The Martin Betton Cup starts in October and we will finish with Finals Day for the Cup and Trophy in May next year. This season we are 28 teams. We are pleased to welcome three new Clubs and one new team:
- The Old Boots FC (Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup)
- Victory Outreach FC (Victory Outreach Church, Salford)
- Signs and Wanderers FC (Christian Revival Church, Urmston)
- Bridge Bolton FC reserves team (The Bridge Church, Bolton)
Christ Church Manchester FC will be playing league football in SMCCFL for the first time, having only played on our cup competitions last season. Christ Church Thornton and Spacious Place will only play in our cup competitions.
It is now 25 years since the SMCCFL was established as a Christian Football League. Our first season was 1999/2000, with our first competitive fixtures played in September 1999. The League has grown considerably over the years, from just six teams in the first season, to a peak of 32 teams a few years ago, and now the current 28 teams.
Throughout the growth and changes over the years, we have stayed true to the same Christian aims of the League, our values and ethos that competitive football can and should be played by all with sporting, friendly, respectful and honest attitude / conduct.
I wish everyone a good season. Whether matches are won, drawn or lost, I hope that all players will enjoy playing their football the ‘SMCCFL Way’….sporting, friendly and honest.
