Midweek Ramble for week ending 20th April by Mason Norton

It was three become one this midweek in the Everards Leicestershire Senior League, as April showers caused the postponements of the Premier Division game between Ellistown and Burbage & Huncote, and the Div1 game between Anstey Town and Sutton Bonington. The problem isn't so much with the amount of rainfall, as the fact that it is falling on pitches saturated by six months of above-average precipitation.

The one game that did go ahead though had implications in Everards Brewery Division One. Hinckley LR Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Holwell Sports Reserves, Luke Barratt and Brogan Greenwood for Road, Patrick Piechowicz and sub Harry Worby for Holwell. That result leaves the hosts four points off second with only a game to go, so congratulations to Leicester Atletico, who secure the runners-up spot, and will be playing in the Everards Brewery Premier Division next season. Road finish third to round off the podium places, well clear of the other teams in the division.

This Saturday sees just five games on the coupon, three in the Prem, one in Div1 and the Chairman's Trophy semi-final between Ingles Development and Leicester Road Reserves. Ramble Round the Competitions will be back slightly later than usual with the report coming out on Monday. See you then.
