Spital clinch first win of season

The big Dey and Co Alma Cup showdown between NAPIT ONE leaders Hasland and second placed Britannia went ahead on Sunday, seven days later than originally planned and it went in favour of Hasland as ever reliable Ant Lynam hit a brace with fellow hit man Lee Clay also getting on the score sheet. The win keeps Hasland on course for a remarkable treble of a possible Alma Cup win, a NAPIT ONE title win and a Derbyshire Senior Sunday Cup win if they can beat NAPIT SECOND DIVISION Clowne Wanderers in the final. Killamarsh Juniors also progressed in the Alma at the expense of Walton whom they beat by five goals to three, Montel Kamara scoring twice, Liam Edge, Pat Lyndly and Jack Stanley once. Juniors also have a potential double on their hands if they can go all the way in the Alma and claim the NAPIT TWO title, currently being second in the division.

In The Ace Sports Chatsworth Cup a goal each from Strong and Gordon earned Woodside a 2-1 victory at Woodthorpe Inn whilst in a tense encounter at Bull and Badger Lester and Mason’s goals for the hosts were cancelled by goals from Dronfield Wanderers Stevens and Collins in a game that finished level at 2-2 after extra time. However it was the visitors who won the ensuing penalty shoot-out by three penalties to one.

In the NAPIT LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION the bottom two sides were both beaten. Tibshelf Town narrowly lost 1-0 to Hepthorne Lane, Briscoe scoring the winner whilst second from bottom Hollingwood were just edged out by Killamarsh Juniors Athletic for whom Holmes, Kay and Parsons scored in a 3-2 score-line. In the division’s other game a Scott Martin hat trick plus an Elliott Crowther effort earned Brampton Rovers a 4-2 win over Doe Lea Villa.

In NAPIT TWO Renishaw MW won 6-2 at relegation threatened Oxcroft MW, a victory which moved them up into second place. Stuart Grainger starred for Renishaw, hitting a hat trick whilst Barry Allberry scored twice with an own goal completing Renishaw’s goal tally. Leaders and Derbyshire Senior Sunday Cup finalists Clowne Wanderers were put to the test by a strong New Whitt side but they had just enough in the tank to win through by two goals to one scored by Careless and Lowton. Danny Rigby was in fine form for Chesterfield Town grabbing a hat trick in a 5-2 win at Charlies Bar Clay Cross, Jax Rumsy scoring twice for Town.

Just one game in NAPIT THREE and it saw Silver Birches record a 4-0 win at Black Swan, Ben Wilson twice, Connor Smith and Joe Newton scoring.

Double Top spurned a great opportunity to go within three points of leaders Woodside in NAPIT FOUR as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Dronfield Woodhouse. The big story in this division however was Spital’s 4-1 win over Dronfield Miners because it was their first of what has been a difficult season for the club. The talisman for Spital were J Robinson and D Parkinson who both scored twice in the win.

In NAPIT FIVE Midland Hotel Killamarsh and Hosetech Mill remain neck and neck at the top of the division as they both recorded wins. Midland were two up in the first ten minutes against Brimington Utd and added a third three minutes into the second period. However Utd pulled a goal back and exerted pressure on the title chasers who kept their nerve to secure the win in which Singh scored twice. Hosetech’s victory was also a hard earned one with Andy Halls double just seeing them home 2-1 against Butchers Arms Spartans. Gate Inn North Wingfield’s re-birth continued with a third win in as many games, Paul Wallis scoring both goals at Chesterfield Arms. The victory finally moves Gate from the foot of the table. Lee Wells scored twice as Harleys Scarlets drew with AFC North Wingfield for whom Vardy and Collins were on target.

NAPIT SIX leaders Birdholme took on Dunston Rovers and had to settle for a point as thew game ended level at 3-3, Kirk Barber and Gill scored for Birdholme, Growcutt, Brown and Thompson for Rovers. AFC Bolsover went second after beating Clowne Wanderers Reserves for the second time in seven days. Last week’s win came in a close fought Chatsworth Cup tie but the second meeting was much more clear cut as Furness twice, Cook, Goodhand and Parfitt scored in a 5-0 win.

NAPIT SEVEN leaders NEWBOLD became NAPIT SEVEN CHAMPIONS on Sunday despite being held to a surprise 3-3 draw by bottom club Birdholme 2nd. The point along with the only side who could catch them North Wingfield MW’s 2-0 defeat at Duckmanton Community confirmed them as top dogs. Wingfield however will end the season as runners up. Elsewhere in SEVEN Fidlers Rest drew 3-3 at Chesterfield Phoenix .

In NAPIT EIGHT Newbold Sports are on the cusp of claiming the title following a 6-3 win over Markham Arms in which Brent scored twice Ragan, Parkinson, Wilbraham and Wilkinson once. Towards the other end of the division Grassmoor Sports Reserves won for the seventh time this season, Chambers twice and Stacey on target at Britannia Tupton.

Next week there are three Cup Semi-Finals taking place at Clay Cross Town’s home ground at Mill Lane Holmegate. At 10.30am North Wingfield MW take on Chesterfield Phoenix in the ACL Companies Hutson Cup with AFC Bolsover meeting New Inn Newton at 1.30pm in the Ace Sports Chatsworth Cup. Finally at 5pm Hasland face Killamarsh Juniors Athletic in a Dey and Co Alma Cup semi.
