It was Cup Final weekend this week with both the Chatsworth Cup and the Somersall Financial Management Ltd Hutson Cup Finals being held at the home of Clay Cross Town.
In the Chatsworth NAPIT THREE Champions West Killamarsh took on Woodthorpe Inn of FOUR. Wests had won their division with relative ease, losing just twice on their way to the title whilst Woodthorpe are currently third in their league four points behind leaders Steelmelters with a game in hand and could yet claim the title. The result of the game was difficult to predict both sides having aces up their sleeves with Wests having thirty-two goal Liam Edge in their ranks and Woodthorpe's Ant Lynam, Ben Bower and Matt Walsh who had scored fifty-three between them. In the end it was Bower and Walsh who contributed hugely to Woodthorpe's cause by scoring a goal each, Craig Sharman adding a third to cancel out a Woodhead effort to lead them to victory.
The Hutson Final was contested by SEVEN leaders Duckmanton Community and Crown Killamarsh who clinched runners up spot in SIX last week. An intriguing contest produced some excellent football with very little to choose between the two sides. In the end however Jack Weaver's two goals for Duckmanton proved pivotal with Paul Dove's absolutely vital as they just edged the game 3-2, Page and Lester with Crown's goals. Things could get even better for the winners who are in an excellent position to win SEVEN although Oxcroft Utd, who are level on points with them could also become top dogs.

Back in the league and Hasland's hopes of winning NAPIT ONE took a hit as they were beaten 4-3 by Killamarsh Juniors Athletic who replaced them as leaders as a result. This was Hasland's second defeat in a week and they have only lost four all season long! The title race will now go right down to the wire as Hasland must now beat Creswell to finish top. On target for Athletic were, Kamara, Holmes, A Parsons and G Parsons with Claridge, Senior and Stubley replying for Hasland. Hepthorne Lane and Brampton Rovers' encounter was none the less vital for the pair as the losers would end the season as wooden spoonists. Rovers began the day in the dreaded position, level on points but behind on goal difference and nothing changed as a goal each from Heggarty, Bomber and Thurnam won the game for the Lane 3-0.

In two FC Brimington met Ashover Vale in both sides final game of the season and it was Vale who prevailed by three goals to one, their three being scored by Gill who scored twice, Wragg once.

In THREE Steelmelters Arms Killamarsh are now almost certain to finish bottom after they were beaten 3-0 by Cresswell Black Diamond.

The league's other Steelmelters side, from Newbold have fared much better than their namesakes and a 4-1 victory over New Whitt B saw them hit the top of FOUR, leaving them with a great chance of finishing top. Steelmelters have been very consistent all season long, none more so than Jack Yeomans who hit a treble in the game, Dave Kelly registering goal number four.

In a FIVE North Wingfield MW were looking to beat Newbold Sports to claim runners up spot. However they still require a point to do so after an entertaining game ended all square at two goals apiece, Danny Chapman and Jeff Booker scoring for Sports, Richie Henson and Gary Brooks replying for Wingfield.

In NAPIT SEVEN one game was played and it was Spartans 2ND who beat Brimington Club by three goals to two.

The showpiece Dey and Co Alma Cup Final takes place this Sunday the eighteenth at Chesterfield FC's Proact Stadium and will be contested by Hasland and FC Britannia both of NAPIT ONE. Kick off will be at 7pm.
