Weather takes its toll

Spring, as they say, has sprung but the un-seasonal spring like weather took it’s toll on the NAPIT LEAGUE fixtures with no fewer than sixteen of the scheduled games postponed. In the games that did take place Hasland’s fairly straightforward 3-0 win over Hepthorne Lane moved them to the top of NAPIT ONE on goal difference. Lee Clay was on target again but only once this week with Ant Lynam and Ben Goodwin also scoring. Creswell Seniors were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Tibshelf Town whilst Killamarsh Juniors Athletic won 4-3 at Eckington Boys despite Scott Williams hitting a hat trick for the home side. His goals were surpassed by strikes from Kelly Parsons, Andy Parsons and James Edge.

Clowne Wanderers hit the top of NAPIT TWO thanks to goals from Loughton, Clayton and Carlos which earned them a 3-1 victory over third placed Renishaw Juniors. Chesterfield Town entertained Barrow Hill MC at Highfield Park and were beaten by them by five goals to two. Mark Vine was the stand out player for the winners, hitting a hat trick, Ryan Ordidge and Ryan Whittaker scored the other two winning goals. There was little to choose between the two sides involved in the division’s other game between Brampton Rovers JMA and New Whitt as S Brandon’s effort for JMA was cancelled out by a goal from R Davidson.

Walton are beginning to look un-stoppable in their quest to lift the NAPIT THREE title, their narrow 4-3 win at Wingerworth Barley Mow moving them eleven points clear. L Wright score twice, L Walton and S Bonson in what was Walton’s thirteenth league win in thirteen starts.

As in THREE just one game took place in FOUR and in it second placed Double Top lost ground on leaders Woodside by losing 5-0 at New Inn Newton for whom right back Damian Wilkinson scored a hat trick, Nathan Hadley two.

Gate Inn North Wingfield won for the first time this season in NAPIT FIVE last week and to prove it was no fluke they won again on Sunday, this time beating a good Butchers Arms Spartan side 3-2. Hosetech Mill have now played the same number of games as Midland Hotel Killamarsh but have a point more, moving above them into first place. The reason for the one point advantage is Hosetech’s excellent 5-1 win at AFC North Wingfield in which Ash Morton scored a treble.

Newbold’s narrow 3-2 win over Holmebrook Tavern keeps them six points clear of North Wingfield MW at the top of SEVEN. The winning goals were scored by Wayne Gerrity, Brett Downs and Matt Bassett. Wingfield also won, their success coming at the expense of Chesterfield Phoenix, R Henson registering a hat trick, S Dickens a double and one from D Gibson completing the scoring. Duckmanton Community led opponents Masons Arms 2-0 at one stage before Craig Smedley upped the ante by hitting four goals. Finally Old Whittington MW recorded a 4-2 victory at Slipper, Scott Wilson scoring twice, Steve Clarke and Anthony Robinson once.
