The year’s final round of fixtures in the NAPIT SUNDAY LEAGUE took place on Sunday with teams in action for the last time until January 4th. Leading NAPIT ONE into the new year are Killamarsh Juniors Athletic who didn’t play and the reason they remain top is because Hasland were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Britannia, leaving the defending champions a point behind Athletic. Britannia have title aspirations of their own and a goal each from Chambers and Whitehead equalled two Lee Clay goals to keep them in the hunt. At the other end of the table the bottom two met with Brampton Rovers taking on Hepthorne Lane and Rovers have cause for optimism for the rest of the campaign as a goal from Steve Allen finally earned them their first point of the season, Tony Watson scoring for the Lane. Eckington Boys hit six past Creswell, Garnett scoring three, Savage two and an own goal to earn them a 6-2 win.

Had Barrow Hill MC beaten Grassmoor Sports they could have gone top of TWO however sadly for them Sports beat them 4-2 to join them on twenty-five points. Joe Lambird, Mark Scott, Ash Walters and Ash Morton’s goals cancelled out two Scott Taylor efforts. F C Brimington’s fine run of form continued with a 7-0 victory over Ashover Vale. Silver Birches began the day in bottom spot but a close fought 4-3 win over Hollingwood saw them move above their opponents. A hat trick from Sam Harris plus two from Matt Waldram and one from Paul Holmes saw Tibshelf Town comfortably beat Wingerworth Barley Mow 6-0. In the division’s other game Brampton Rovers JMA faced Woodside and beat them 4-2 thanks to two goals from Steve Gill and one each from Sam Lomas and Sam Ward.

Three teams are now deadlocked at the top of NAPIT THREE after leaders AFC Bolsover were beaten 6-3 by Red Lion Whitt Moor, who are third and West Killamarsh beat Beechers Brook 5-0. Bolsover’s Josh Parfitt added three goals to his season’s tally but a hat trick from Cooke, two from McTighe and an Own Goal handed Red Lion the points. West’s have only been beaten once this season and never looked in real danger of being beaten again as two Liam Edge goals plus one apiece from Hanwell, Jessop and J Woodhead subdued Beechers. Liam Mottram scored twice as Dronfield Woodhouse beat Hopflower Athletic 2-0 whilst Matlock Town Wanderers thumped Newton George and Dragon 7-1, M and H Travis both scoring hat tricks, Walker one and Brickmakers and Creswell Black Diamond shared eight goals and the points, Catherwood, Thorpe, Stanton and Beach scoring for Brickmakers, Greaveson three and Richardson one for Black Diamond.

In NAPIT FOUR none of the top three won with Dronfield Miners being held to a 1-1 draw by Newbold, Pilsley drawing 2-2 with Chesterfield Arms and AFC North Wingfield losing to Steelmelters 2-1. Garrity scored for Newbold, Grassam for Miners, Virgillio and Woods for Arms, Shiels two for Pilsley whilst James and McGuiness hit the winners for Steelmelters. Elsewhere two goals from Brough and Hutchinson plus one from Walker saw Harleys Scarlets triumph 5-3 at Brimington Park Colts.

NAPIT FIVE leaders North Wingfield M W entertained local rivals Gate Inn in a Wingfield derby, nineteen points separating the sides at the start of play which was reduced by three by full time as Gate recorded a superb 3-2 win, the leaders suffering their first defeat of the season. Barratt, Frakes and Kirk were Gate’s goal scoring heroes. Second placed Clowne Wanderers Reserves ended the year in fine style, hammering Holmehall 1st 7-1, Robson hitting a treble in the victory, Voutishas, Peake, Cooper and Summers one. Palterton Sporting Club won 4-2 at Hasland Community, Lee Marris hitting three whilst the other two games ended in draws, Old Whittington M W and Brampton Brewery 3-3, likewise Spital and Newbold Sports. Clarke scoring twice for Old Whittington, Robinson once, Roberts, Ceesay and Hall for Brewery, Grant twice for Spital, Booker once and Handley twice for Sports, White once.

Hady Villa extended their lead at the top of SIX to five points following a 2-1 success over second placed Crown Killamarsh, Inns and McMahon finding the net. Third placed Furnace Hill Hurricanes beat Fidlers Rest 5-3, Steve Jones, Tim Jarvis, Jack Wilson twice and former Palterton Sporting man Wayne Boston with the goals. Markham Arms won 6-3 at Holmehall 2nd to stay fifth, Parish scoring two, South, Manlove, Madin and Gregory one each. Dronfield Wanderers also hit six, this time past Barlow Kingston Rovers, Stevens scoring a couple along with goals from Collins, Gears, Martin and Nisbeth. Renishaw M W Reserves also recorded a win, 4-1 over bottom side Boythorpe, Aaron Blakemore, Steven Whitehead, Lee Turner and Mathew Whitehead with Renishaw’s goals.

Duckmanton Community have moved three points clear at the top of SEVEN after they beat Squadron Medical 4-0 and second placed Brampton Rovers Reserves lost 3-2 at Grassmoor Sports Reserves. Community’s four goals were scored by Adam Jones and Mark Reynolds who hit a treble whilst Rovers were undone by goals from S Chambers, K Bingham and C Bingham. Britannia Tupton took the lead against Glapwell Gladiators through Laverty but goals from Wild and Downing put the latter ahead. Britannia were still in with a chance until Gladiators top scorer Dave Canning stepped in to score four taking his total for the season to twenty-four. Clay Cross Miners and Diners did not show any of the season’s goodwill towards opponents Dronfield Town as they romped to a 7-2 victory, Rickie Fullwood scoring two. Keaton Holland.
