The delayed Derbyshire Junior Sunday Cup Semi-Final between NAPIT FOUR sides Steelmelters and Woodthorpe Inn finally went ahead on Sunday. The two teams have yet to meet in the league but did come up against each other in December in the Chatsworth Cup with Woodthorpe winning comfortably by five goals to two on that occasion. This time around the contest was much closer with very little to choose between the two protagonists which was not a surprise bearing in mind what was at stake, however in the end a solitary strike from Woodthorpe’s Ben Bower was enough to move them into the final and break the hearts of the Steelmelters. In the Senior section the game between Hasland and Corner Pin was a victim of the weather once again.

Very few games went ahead in the league once again with the fixture backlog increasing by the week which will inevitably mean a very busy mid-week programme taking place later. However due to the excellent Clune Street surface Clowne Wanderers will not be involved as once again there NAPIT ONE fixture against FC Britannia did take place with the points being shared as it finished 2-2, Craig Longmore and Scott McMillan scoring for Wanderers, Dave Chambers scoring both Britannia goals.

In NAPIT THREE West Killamarsh remain on course to claim the title following a superb 3-1 win at AFC Bolsover. Liam Edge blasted all three Wests goals taking his season’s total to twenty-five and his side eight points clear of second placed Red Lion Whitt Moor. Beechers Brook met Newton George and Dragon and came out on top in a high scoring game, winning by five goals to three. Beechers’ goals came from Bexton, who scored two, Bingham, Parsons and Tyler who all scored one.

In FOUR the only game played ended with honours even as New Whitt B and Brimington Park Colts drew 2-2 with Scott and Davison scoring Whitt’s goals, Reed-Aspley and Mosley Rangers goals.

Spital moved up to fourth from bottom in NAPIT FIVE following a 6-1 win over fellow strugglers Holmehall 1st who drop to third bottom following the defeat. Grant and Fox both hit a brace for Spital with Walton and Stray scoring one each.

Just one game in SIX and it was a real nail biter as Furnace Hill Hurricane’s just edged out Renishaw Miners Welfare Reserves by three goals to two. Bailey scored twice for the winners, Holmes once, Clayton and Turner scored for the losers.
