Moresby won the 2008 Veterans County Cup in a dramatic final that was decided by an 18 spot kick penalty shootout. Netherhalls luck in winning penalty shootouts finaly ran out when Trevor Studholme's penalty kick hit the post giving Moresby a 7-6 victory. In regular playing time Paul Curtis opened the scoring for Moresby, Peter Lister then equalised for Netherhall. It stayed 1-1 throughout normal time and extra time, in the penalty shootout 9 players from each side took a spot kick with Studholme taking the 17th penalty. Thomas Thomason then coolly converted his penalty to make Moresby the first team from division 2 to win the County Cup.
