Mallaby enhanced their chances of making a return to the top flight, following 3-0 result at Higher Bebington Kelma.

In the race for promotion from the Go2 Day West Cheshire League's Division Two, second placed challengers, Mallaby enhanced their chances of making a return to the top flight, following Saturday's 3-0 result at Higher Bebington Kelma. A Kian Hamm opener was supplemented by late efforts from Paul Ellison and Ellis Byrne as the Claughton Village outfit cranked up the pressure on current leaders, South Liverpool Res., WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.
Despite goals from Joel Whalley and Chay Dysart, Hooton's promotion hopes went into reverse, after they capitulated 4-2 at home to South Sefton Borough and it was a similar tale of woe for consistent performers, Runcorn Sports, who had Reece Dyer on target, but suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Mossley Hill Ath. U23's, who sealed the issue, courtesy of a goal apiece from Adil Mohammed, Jonathan Liddle and Callum Smethwick. Goals from Tom Gray and Jason Bull failed to prevent West Kirby from losing 3-2 at home to Marshalls Res., who had Josh Lavender, Luc Haralambous and Sam Bowsie on the mark, while Maghull Res. accounted for Neston Nomads, 3-0, thanks to efforts from Shaun Robinson (2) and Joe Howard.
Mossley Hill Ath.'s senior side took another step towards their first Division One title, highlighted by a Caleb Jones hat trick in their 6-0 victory over Chester Nomads. Mark Owens, Ben Jones and Nathan Peet also made the scoresheet, while FC Bootle stayed in contention, Jacob Jones and Lewis O'Reilly applying the finishing touches, in the 2-0 eclipse of Litherland Remyca Res. Newton found the net through Ross McDowell, Alex Strannach, Joseph Williams and Paddy Jones but fluffed their lines once again, following a 4-4 stalemate with Helsby, who earned a share of the spoils thanks to doubles from Joel Jones and Lee Turkington. Heswall moved closer to mid table sanctuary, after Tom Davies, Scott Connolly and Liam Grealis obliged in Saturday's 3-1 success over local rivals, Vauxhall Motors Res., who hit back via Will Mountfield and it was celebration time for Mersey Royal, who had Tom Haynes (2) Jamie Leyland and Dillon Thomas on target in a 4-0 win against Rainhill Town. A goal from Emmanuel Olatain proved scant reward for Ellesmere Port Town, who went down 4-1 at Marshalls. A Franki Pashias hat trick, allied to an effort from Dan Abayomi anchored the hosts to all three points.
Hats off to Cam Clark, who bagged all five goals as Chester Nomads Res. romped home 5-1 in their Division Three clash with Helsby Res., who had Jaden Ditchfield in reply, and Rainhill Town Res. also scored five times, Chris Sheehan (2) Mick Johnson (2) and Harry Summerford pulling the trigger in a 5-0 victory over Frodsham Park JFC. Elsewhere, John Skipsey found the net for Great Sutton, but it was Heswall U23's who profited, Ollie Dutton, Dan Smith and Brad Geer steering the visitors to a 3-1 triumph.
Maghull B top scored in the Youth Division, Nathan Moffitt (2) Luke Kilcullen (2) George Deakin (2) John Clarkson and Adam Ralph sharing the goals in Saturday's 8-0 rout of Litherland Remyca. Title rivals, Athletico Blues were also in goal hungry mood, and their 5-0 victory over West Kirby Utd. was confirmed by efforts from Alex Callister (2) Baden Clarendon, Finn McGovern and Kieran Law. Callum Grimes, Ellis Jago and Lucas Gorman struck for South Liverpool, who overcame Vauxhall Motors 3-0, but goals from Jack Wilson-Jones and Bobby Connor were to no avail for AFC Knowsley, who lost 3-2 at home to Neston Nomads who capitalised with replies from Jude Francis, Nate Jones and Dan Steele. Elsewhere, efforts from Mossley Hill Ath.'s Lewis Melling (2) and Charlie Norris were matched by replies from Runcorn Linnets' Josh McVey, Ellis Butterworth and Jack Ball.
On the District scene, commiserations to Cammell Laird 1907 U18's, who lost on penalties to Higher Bebington Kelma Vets in their Wirral DFA Junior Cup 2nd round tie, after the game had resulted in a 2-2 finish.
