CONNY UTD NOTCH 5 AGAINST CROWS NEST SPORTS !!

The sun was shining as the NDSFL 2023/2024 season got underway with a shortened programme.

Conny United FC got their campaign off to a flying start with a 5-0 victory over Crows Nest Sports FC in MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE 2. Kieran Coleman-Smith, Connor Wainwright, Ethan Taylor and Luke Moore with a goal a piece, the fifth coming in the way of an own goal.

A hat-trick from Richard Horsfall saw Bedworth Conservative FC also hit 5 in their opener, as they saw off Ashby Road Sports FC 5-1. Matthew Broadhurst and Ryan Allsopp with the other Conservative goals. Craig Chatburn scored the Ashby Road goal.

Grendon FC were leading Phoenix United FC 1-0 when the match was abandoned on around 68 minutes due to a serious injury to a Phoenix player. Athletico Duke FC came from behind to claim an opening day victory over Saunders Hall FC, a Braydon York double and singles from Kaine Finch and Jacob Townsend were enough to settle the contest in The Duke’s favour.
New boys Newdigate United FC started in style with a 4-2 win against fellow new team Anchor Inn Hartshill FC in NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE 3, the Newdigate goals coming from Lewis Allton, James Lloyd, Tom Noon and an own goal. Ridwaan Masram and Matthew Phelps replied for Anchor.

Jamie Row found the net for new Hinckley side Hinckley Wanderers FC but they went on to lose 3-1 to SS Bulls Head FC as a Josh Atkinson brace and a Denis Tomashevskij goal took the points back to Sapcote.
Rumour Mill (Barwell) FC went into half time 2-0 up against Weddington Athletic FC, thanks to goals from Joe Randle and Danny Winterbotham before a Gareth Orr brace, levelled the scores. With 7 minutes to play substitute Riley Poxon hit the winner for Rumour Mill who held on to take the points back to Barwell.
The battle of Bedworth was decided by an own goal as Bedworth Bank Reserves ran out 1-0 winners over Bedworth Liberal Reserves.
