The last East Midlands Counties League representatives bowed out of the FA Cup at the First Qualifying Round stage on Tuesday evening when Halesowen Town won at WEST BRIDGFORD by the only goal of the game in front of a whopping crowd of 287.
In the league, OLLERTON TOWN continued their 100% start to the season with a 3-0 win at INGLES courtesy of goals from the in-form Ben Partridge, who scored one in each half and strike partner Gav King. The former Northern Counties East League side have yet to concede a goal this season so far and head the table with three wins.
HUCKNALL TOWN have won both of their opening games celebrating by scoring seven at BARROW TOWN to the home side’s three. A brace from Joe Butler and one from Grant Ryan put them comfortable ahead until Pandeep Bahrey got the home side’s first league goal of the season four minutes before the break. Bradley Latham and Matt Brian increased away advantage before Fortune Sibanda pulled another back for the Riversiders. Latham’s second and one from Jamie Crawford saw Hucknall up to seven with Jordan Holmes getting Barrow’s third.
CLIPSTONE had to come from behind twice to retain their 100% start after James Price had given DUNKIRK a 40th minute advantage. Alex Mann levelled but Callum Robinson put the Boatmen back in front again. Josh Pickering restored parity with eleven minutes left and Alex Mann’s second goal of the game in the last minute brought joy to Clipstone.
Chadley Timson gave CLIFTON ALL WHITES a 25th minute lead at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE and the visitors were well on their way to retaining their perfect start to the campaign when Matt Timms doubled their advantage in the 37th minute. Kyle Stovell completed a fine 3-0 away win for them ten minutes from the end.
Joss Walmsley restored a sense of urgency to SHERWOOD COLLIERY when he levelled Tim Gregory’s 41st minute opener for visitors GRAHAM STREET PRIMS. It started a goal riot of two in seven minutes as Sherwood regained the incentive with Ethan Wiesztort’s brace. Joe Lumley completed the scoring on 87.
Luke Manlove gave SHIREBROOK TOWN a half-time advantage in their clash with HEANOR TOWN. Kyle Daley levelled nine minutes after the break but that was as good as it got for the Lions as Nathan Jessop’s late brace left the visitors still looking for their first points of the season.
RAINWORTH MINERS WELFARE comprehensively won their local derby at TEVERSAL thanks to early goals from Kane Hempshall and Julian Toplis added to early in the second half by Kyle Hempshall. Ben Agbakosi got one back mid second half for Tevie but Henry Brooks sealed a 4-1 for Welfare ten minutes from the end.
